Preprations for the Southern Highlands Motorcycle Centre's Rd 9 Championship started weeks before the event. The committee decided to put on the best track of the year and it showed . We secured sponsorship for the day months earlier and organised the Blackwell Bros to fully prepare the track. We had the biggest turn up of volunteers for the working bee and were able to repair hoses in order for Sundays heat wave. We had people watering all day, mowing lawns, tidying up tyres and cleaning out the start gates.
Although the turn up on Sunday wasn't as big as expected, the riders were treated to one of the best prepped circuits in Australia and it showed in the first practice when the seniors went out and absolutely attacked the track with aggression never seen before. I've never seen so many smiles from riders before. They all agreed that the hard work had payed off. The juniors agreed and rode the track to their limits without fail. Good to see so many people enjoying our passion,"MOTOCROSS".
We weren't giving up there, the dedicated track waterers endeavoured to heap enough hydration in the track to eliminate any dust. The 30 degree heat was a challenge but it wasn't getting them down. They managed to contain the dust and the riders ended up with conditions more than rideable all day. The racing was fantastic in all classes. With a very tractable surface the spectators were entertained by some pretty brave riding. There was ruts and braking bumps forming in all parts of the track and the ability to change lines quickly proved confidence in the surface.
The beautiful canteen ladies worked hard all day to cater for the hungry mob, they kept serving all day despite the heat and we are very thankfull for their part to the club. The office girls (as I like to call them) made the day so smooth from sign on to lapscoring and the end of the day prize presentation.
While I was told to keep it short, there are a lot of people I would like to thank ,my right hand men Colin Foulds and Derrek Poole, our famous race and club secretary Margaret Davenport, our hard working lapscorer Nicole Fullager, the gorgeous canteen girls Monique Darby , Kelly Pickin, Joanne McEntee, Linda Sutherland and Christine Holroyd, and the dedicated track maintenance guys of Wayne Mccowan, Craig Driscoll, Corey Berinati, John Darby, Paul Picken, David Ward, Gary Xerri and Keith Holroyd. There were a heap of unexpected people helping with watering in the morning, Thank you.
Lastly and definitely not leastly I would like to thank all the riders and their families for their support of the club during the year. Without you there is no club, there is no show, and we all feel priviledged to be be entertained by the hardwork and skills you all have put in this year. On behalf of the club I sincerly THANK YOU ALL.
Remember " Oakdale is the place to race"
Yours in sport
Damien

You would have noticed that at the last pointscore we had a new sign on procedure. This process has been refined, so you MUST see the Chief Marshal before you can sign on. The Chief Marshal will be located in front of the sign on shed or there abouts, and will provide you with a ticket once you have been allocated your marshalling duty for the day. If you do not have a ticket you will not be allowed to sign on, and you will be sent to see the Chief Marshal then return to the end of the sign on queue once you have been allocated a marshalling position. This is to ensure all marshal positions are covered, as well as reserve marshals and to ensure "late comers" don't avoid their marshalling obligations.

One of the changes in the recently issued 2011 Manual of Motorcycle Sport (MOMS) relates to Back Numbers.
In previous years it was only juniors that were required to display Back Numbers,
but a change to Rule 12.6.5.1 now requires Seniors to do the same.
As such, all Senior riders should ensure they comply with this requirement.
